Akti Koumoundourou 52 Mikrolimano, Piraeus
Chef Lefteris Lazarou was among the firsts in Greece that introduced the gourmet cuisine at the end of the 80s focused on fish gastronomy. He launched the monkfish as a hot item in the Athenian restaurant scene as well as the exotic parrot fish or the humble garfish. Being a host, a businessman and a TV celebrity but most of all a cook, Lazarou will probably welcome you himself and recommend you a tailor made for you menu. Varoulko has been awarded with a Michelin star and with Toques d’ Or as one of the best restaurants of Greek cuisine. It is located next to Heridanus hotel on a three floor neoclassical building, renovated with wooden decks and see through floors. This season, Lazarou is going through a particularly creative phase balancing between an aesthetic simplicity and elegant very tasteful dishes. The summer roof garden offers a beautiful view of the Acropolis.
