The Katholikon of the men’s Monastery (1578) is a domed cross-in-square church. The murals are the work of the famous hagiographers D. Kakavas, F. Kontoglou and R. Kopsidis. The Monastery suffered a lot of damages by the Turks and offered its services in the 1821 War of Independence. It boasts a remarkable library and the “Clandestine School” located in the basement of the Monastery.
