Church of Hagios Petros
Holy Metropolis of Mesogaia and Lavreotiki, Thoukididou & Byzantiou 6 Str, Spata
Churches and Monasteries/Churches and Monasteries
A two-column cross-in-square church, built in the early post-Byzantine period. Only the mural of Hagios Charalampos, dating back to the 18th century, a work of the School of G. Markou, is preserved. During excavations around the church, remnants of a settlement and a cemetery (11th-14th centuries) came to light. The church was transferred 340 meters to a new position to facilitate the construction of the Eleftherios Venizelos Airport. The church is under the jurisdiction of the Holy Metropolis of Mesogaia and Lavreotiki.
