Monastery of Hagios Nektarios, Aegina
Churches and Monasteries/Churches and Monasteries
Byzantine nunnery built in the period 1904-1910 at the site of an earlier Monastery of the Byzantine era, dedicated to Zoodochos Pigi, which the newly declared Hagios Nektarios († 9 November) decided to restore in order to house the Monastery of Hagia Triada (Holy Trinity). It has two bell towers, four rows of windows with red arches and a separate chapel with the tomb of the Saint. The holy relics of Hagios Nektarios are kept in the Monastery. The Monastery is under the jurisdiction of the Holy Metropolis of Hydra, Spetses and Aegina. It is worth visiting the Byzantine area of Paliochora.
