Churches and Monasteries/Churches and Monasteries
Three-aisled basilica assumed to have been erected during the reign of Justinian I, in the 6th century. It was initially dedicated to Panagia Perivleptos, later renovated along the Western standards and after the fall of Chalkida to the hands of the Turks it was converted into a mosque. After the liberation of the town, it was dedicated to Hagia Paraskevi († 26 July). According to A. Orlandos it is a Byzantine restoration of a Venetian building. The church is under the jurisdiction of the Holy Metropolis of Chalkida.
