What to expect

Head out of Athens and travel back in time with this full day tour of Epidaurus and Mycenae. Start with a short photo stop at the Corinth Canal before continuing to Mycenae, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and visit the archaeological site, home to the kingdom of mythical Agamemnon. You will see the Cyclopean Walls, the Lion’s Gate, the Royal Tombs, including Agamemnon Clytemnestra's, and the Treasury of Atreus, a magnificent 14th-century B.C. structure. Time will then be taken for a traditional Greek optional lunch at a nearby restaurant.

After lunch in Argos, proceed to Nafplio the first capital of modern Greece with its Venetian Fortress of Palamidi and the fortified island of Bourtzi. Continue to Epidaurus and visit the ancient theatre. The UNESCO’S world heritage listed monument is reputed to be the birthplace of Apollo's son Asklepios and was the most celebrated healing centre of the classical world. The Argolis (Mycenae - Epidaurus) day tour returns to Athens in the late afternoon.

Things to look out for

The archaeological site of Mycenae is the imposing ruins of one of the greatest cities of the Mycenaean civilization and played a vital role in the development of classical Greek culture. The Asclepieion at Epidaurus was the most celebrated healing centre of the Classical world. The theatre of Epidaurus is marvelled for its exceptional acoustics. The theatre still used today for performances in ancient Greek dramas or comedies.

Helpful Tips

The full-day tour, during the summer season, every Tuesday and Thursday will stop for lunch at Nafplion. The other days will stop for lunch in a traditional restaurant outside Mycenae. Complimentary pickup service is offered before the departure of the tour from Athens central hotels.
